Run for a New Start  |  2018 Results

In May 2018, OCISO was blessed again, as our dedicated “Run for a New Start” volunteers “went the distance for refugees”  and finished their 2km, 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km races in the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.

It was a record-breaking year. We are so very appreciative that our 165 volunteers and their 400+ sponsors were able to raise over $33,000 in support of OCISO’s programs with refugee and immigrant youth!

A team from Ridgemont High School joined us again, mobilized by their energetic ELD teacher, Nadia Gandhi. Ridgemont fielded a team of 50+ newcomer students .

They created quite a stir (see CTV News clip below).

OCISO has again registered as a charity for the upcoming Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend (May 25-26, 2019), and we’ve set ourselves the goal of raising $25,000 (or more!), in support of OCISO’s youth programs.

We invite runners and walkers to join our “Run for a New Start” fundraising team. Volunteers who commit to raising $100 will receive the 2019 edition of our cool Tshirts pictured above!

For more information, contact our “Run for a New Start” coordinator
David Rain at drain@ociso.org.
