OCISO’s Counselling Program is uniquely equipped to provide counselling services to the immigrant and refugee population in Ottawa. We offer clinical counselling to culturally diverse clients with migration and culture-related issues. Children and Youth Counsellors provide short term counselling to immigrant and refugee children, youth and their families. We employ a wide variety of intervention techniques, which allow for a culturally responsive therapeutic process. We do not just “respect” our client’s culture – we incorporate that culture into the therapeutic process. These services can be provided at OCISO locations, virtually or out in community spaces such as schools. Clients are provided 6-8 sessions as well as connections to other service providers to help adress their settlement needs.
Eligibility - open to permanent residents and limited capacity to all other immigrant classes
