Position: Settlement Counsellor – LGBTQ2S+ Support
Term: Full-time – 35 Hours per week - Indefinite (Subject to Renewal)
Reports to: Manager – Settlement and Integration Program

Position Summary
To deliver settlement support through a case management approach to vulnerable refugee clients experiencing challenges with the settlement process and isolation, including, but not limited to, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community and housebound women and seniors.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide information, education and consultation to clients facing multiple challenges to facilitate their settlement and integration on an individual basis or through group workshops.
- Connecting clients to needed resources and providing support to meet the goals stated in a mutually developed case plan.
- Provide access to qualified and consistent psychosocial support.
- Ensure high cultural and linguistic service delivery standards within an anti-racism anti-oppression policy network.
- Facilitate problem solve problem-solving where services are limited or unavailable due to linguistic and cultural barriers.
- Facilitate and promote the integration of immigrants by providing a wide range of services which incorporates cultural considerations and migration experience.
- Deliver services at OCISO’s locations and outreach to deliver services in various key locations in the community, such as community centers, shelters, and within housing complexes where refugee families live.
- Demonstrate a commitment to OCISO’s culture of respect management approach and anti-racism/anti-oppression policy within the work environment and in the community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work or social sciences.
- Three (3+) plus years of related work experience.
- Familiarity with issues related to the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees, especially those related to the LGBTQ2+ community
- In-depth experience in working with LGBTQ2+ communities
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, including community representatives.
- Excellent facilitation, cross-cultural communication and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of community resources.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written knowledge of English is essential; French or any other language would be an asset.
- Proficiency with current computer applications, including the MS Office Suite, internet-based productivity tools and databases.
Salary & Benefits: $48,321 – 49,249 annually. comprehensive benefits plan including health, dental, RRSP, and generous leave entitlement.
