DJ/Turntablism Program for Newcomer and Refugee Youth

YOCISO added an event.

The workshop series is for newcomer, refugee or 1st generation youth interested in learning the art of being a DJ. The art form has been popularized with the surge in electronic music. It is a great way to learn the basics of the art form, get to know some great people and learn about some classic music.

The DJ is the foundation of Hip Hop Culture as well as the key ingredient to any good social gathering. No matter what genre you are into, this program can help you understand the elements that make up the music. The program is hosted by DJ PrufRock.

Space is limited so you can register by sending us your name, age and school your attend to youth@nullociso.org.

This workshop series is brought to you in collaboration with House of PainT - UrbanArtFest and Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization.

Check out our schedule for next week! We have an amazing week of programs. We would like to thank everyone in the community who has shared, spread the word, supported and cheered us on during our launch of our newcomer youth center. We cant do this without you.
Please share this with anyone you think could benefit. Its so important we help youth navigate their migration experience. So much of our stance on other issues can be told by how we treat the youth, how we value them, how we listen to them.

Keep in mind, Wednesdays at 5, we open the center to guest and visitors to join us for our circle conversations. We welcome everyone to join and meet some incredible people.

Thank you and have a great week.
