OCISO supports immigrants through the journey of making Canada their home by providing creative and responsive programs that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, by building community through mutual respect and partnerships, and by fostering healthy and inclusive spaces for open dialogue and healing.
As a member of the dynamic and growing Community Economic Development team, the incumbent facilitates mentorship matches for pre-arrival clients destined to the Ontario region via e-mentoring. Working closely with a partner organization the incumbent orientates the pre-arrival client, clarifying long and short-term career goals and matches the client with a professional mentor within their chosen field, prior to their arrival in Canada.
· Facilitates on-line employment/career related Information and/or Orientation to aid the client to better understand the larger context and processes
· Provides on-line employment enhancing coaching and professional career counseling
· Provide information on language assessment referrals
· Conducts follow-up and evaluation
· Matches profession specific mentors with pre-arrival clients destined to Ontario
· Facilitates on-line training and information sessions delivery for mentors and clients
· Facilitates and attends Advisory Committee meetings for input and feedback
· Makes appropriate referrals to community partners
· Recruits/engages Volunteer Mentors across Ontario
· Facilitates connections to Settlement, OCISO services and services and resources in the community for support post-arrival
· Participate on internal committees and working groups as required
· Any additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Manager
· Ensure high standards of service delivery within an anti-racism and anti-oppression policy framework
· Demonstrate a commitment to OCISO’s culture of respect management approach and anti-racism/anti oppression policy within the work environment and in the community
· University degree in related field and two years’ experience in employment and career counseling service delivery
· Proven experience in supporting immigrants/refugees
· Excellent knowledge of community services and employment resources
· Excellent assessment and referral skills
· Good knowledge of academic and professional licensing processes and procedures
· Excellent knowledge of social media, web site development etc.
· Excellent communication, writing and facilitation skills
· Effective interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills
· Knowledge and experience with mainstream computer applications/database software and social media
· Fluent in English and French desirable
· Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environment
$ 49,389 - $50,377 annually. Comprehensive benefits plan including health, dental, an RRSP plan and a generous leave entitlement.
