The OCISO Youth Program (YOCISO) continues to offer free, fun and innovative programs to Newcomer youth in Ottawa. YOCISO programs are specifically designed to assist immigrant youth, ages 13-24, with their settlement and integration process in Canada.

Through this process, these youth gain the necessary skills to achieve their goals, as well as develop a positive mindset to begin to overcome the challenges they may be facing so that they can contribute to the Canadian society.

The YOCISO program ended the school year on a very positive note. We had an end of the year and volunteer appreciation party where we ate, laughed, danced and celebrated all the amazing feats we had accomplished over the year.

We are now preparing for our summer program starting on July 9th and we have some great activities, workshops and programs in store such as the breakfast club, gardening, creative expressions, sports and recreation, awesome field trip and guest speakers and much more.

All programs will be taking place at the Newcomer Youth Center located at 1800 Bank Street on the 3rd floor from 12:00pm – 5:00pm.

We will also be continuing our “Wrestling with Champions” program led by 12 time Syrian champion Mohammed Alkarad every Wednesday and Friday from 5:00pm – 7:00pm where youth aged 10-18 will learn and participate in the sport of wrestling.

We look forward to seeing you over the summer.
