Marion Dewar championed the cause of refugees, immigrants and all those who struggle for better lives. Now it’s our turn to make a difference. Make a lasting a positive change in the life of immigrant and refugee youth through education!
Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO) established the Marion Dewar Scholarship Fund (MDSF) in 2009 to honour the late Marion Dewar, a former Ottawa mayor, for her lifelong commitment to immigrant integration. The scholarship supplements the cost of tuition and supplies required by immigrant and refugee youth for their post secondary education in the National Capital Region.
Immigrant youth face serious challenges in reaching their potential often due to financial barriers. It is our collective responsibility as a community to help youth learn the skills necessary to succeed and pursue their dreams. The gift of education to our youth is the investment we can make in their lives and ours as a community.
