OCISO’s 4th Annual Awards Gala: Celebrating Our Community which took place on March 1, 2012 at the Hampton Inn, Ottawa was a resounding success.

This year, we hosted a gathering of 400 guests, providing an opportunity for the business sector, politicians, partners and the community to celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of four community champions: Mohamed Sofa, Albert Kayumba, Hawa Mohamed and Parkdale United Church, recipients of the Youth Leadership Award, Heroes Among Us Award and Organizational Leadership Award of Excellence, respectively. These community champions are passionate about assisting and ensuring that immigrants settle successfully in Ottawa.

At the gala, OCISO launched its three year, $650, 000 iContribute Campaign with a surprise announcement of a $30, 000 donation from an anonymous donor and friend of OCISO as well as a $5000 donation from the Indo Canada Ottawa Business Chamber.
